understanding simswear
What is simswear
simswear is a knitwear brand built around two ideas, clothing should be designed for life, and how something is made matters just as much as what it becomes.
We make limited edition knitwear in the UK using exceptional natural fibres and skilled makers we know and trust.
Why did simswear start
We wanted to make knitwear we could live in properly, wear often, repair when needed, and keep for years. That meant stepping away from seasonal churn, discounts and excess, and focusing instead on materials, makers and longevity.
Who is simswear for
For people who care how things are made, even if they don’t want to think about it every day. Our knitwear is designed to fit easily into real life, not sit carefully in a wardrobe.
products & materials
what fibres do you use
We use natural fibres exclusively, including wool, cashmere and cotton. Each fibre is chosen based on how it performs in use, how it ages, and how it can be repaired or reused at the end of its life.
why don't you use synthetics
Synthetic fibres don’t perform well from an insulation standpoint and need regular washing which is inconvenient. They equally don’t return to the earth at the end of their life. For knitwear designed to be worn often and kept for years, they don’t make sense.
where is your knitwear made
All of our knitwear is made in the UK by specialist yarn spinners and knitters with generations of experience. Where appropriate, we also work with Italian yarn spinners whose expertise suits the fibre and the season.
are all your product runs limited
Yes. Each chapter is designed and made once. We don’t repeat collections or restock past pieces.
ordering & availability
why is everything made to order
Making to order allows us to avoid waste, price fairly, and focus on making each piece properly. It also means we can take you along the journey from wool to finished garment.
how often do you release new flocks
We release four drops per year. This keeps things intentional and gives us time to focus on materials, making and storytelling rather than constant marketing.
how do I know when releases go live
The only way to gain access is to join our email list
how long is a drop available for
A drop will only ever be live for a weekend, or less if all the production slots have been sold.
Each drop has a limited number of production slots which we have to pre-book into our manufacturer's schedule prior to release. Once a drop reaches capacity the sale will close.
if a product sells out, can I get one another way
In short, no, because we are limited by the production capacity of each run.
However, after a product has gone out for delivery we may receive returns. In this instance we can resell returned items. To buy products in resale, please contact us and we'll notify you if your style, size and colour become available.
pricing & value
simswear pricing
Our prices reflect the true cost of exceptional materials, skilled UK making and small production runs. We don’t inflate prices to allow for future discounts.
All knitted to order products will have two checkout options:
1) pay 50% upfront; 50% prior to delivery
2) pay 100% in full upfront
do you ever go on sale
Rory and I both dislike the feeling of seeing something we own discounted at a later date. We price fairly from the start and don’t run sales. This allows you to buy with confidence and keep wearing your knitwear without seeing it reduced later.
production & delivery
how long does it take to receive my knitwear
Because everything is knitted to order, delivery times vary by drop depending on the factory. We’ll always be clear about timelines before you place an order, and we’ll keep you updated throughout the making process. In general we aim for a three month cycle from ordering to delivery.
will i get updates during the wait period
Yes. We share progress from wool to finished garment so you understand how your piece is coming to life.
after you receive your knitwear
how should simswear knitwear fit
Each product page includes fit guidance. Our knitwear is designed to be comfortable, wearable and easy to live with. Stick to our size guides and you should be fine.
Before you order, I personally like the trick of measuring a favourite jumper, and using those measurements to match our size chart.
will my knitwear change over time
Yes, in a good way. Natural fibres soften, relax and develop character with wear. This is part of their appeal.
repairs, care & end of life
how should i care for my knitwear
We recommend gentle washing, airing where possible, and storing knitwear folded rather than hung. Detailed care instructions can be found in our care & repair guide.
can it be repaired
Yes. We design our knitwear to be repairable and offer one free repair per item. Check out our care & repair guide
Can it be recycled
While you shouldn't have to worry about this for a considerable amount of time, and as a last resort if repair is not an option, our 100% natural fibre knitwear can be recycled or returned to the earth and composted.
returns & exchanges
can i return or exchange my order
Yes, if the piece isn't quite right for you then you're welcome to return it for a refund, provided it is unworn.
For exchanges, because pieces are made to order and we hold no stock, exchanges are only possible if another customer returns an item in the same style, colour and size. If an exchange is not possible we will issue a full refund.
If something isn’t right, then please do get in touch and we’ll work it out together.
what if something goes wrong with my order
We’re a small team (2 to be precise!) and we care deeply about what we make. If there’s an issue, please contact us we’ll always do our best to resolve it fairly.
how can i contact you
You can reach us via email through the contact page. We read every message and reply personally.
